Research Day Five - Last Day!
Tuesday, 2/10/15 1. Finish your group Prezi. Make sure you have parenthetical citations on all answers, images and/or video, and a Works Cited page at the end. 2. Put your Prezi into Present Mode and practice giving your presentation. Make sure you know which person will read each slide. 3. Share your Prezi with me: agarrison@skiatookschools.org. Make me a Viewer. We will give presentations Wednesday - Friday. Thursday, we'll take a brief break from presentations for a CFA. If you need more lab time, see me for an appointment. I am available after school today, 3:15-4:15. As always, please use the Purdue OWL for guidance on proper parenthetical citations and Works Cited entries. **See below for an example of a Research Notes entry with my specifications.**

Research Day 4
Monday, 2/9/15 Prezis are due by Wednesday! I will follow my regular late policy. We have no lab time that day. If you need extra computer time, I am available after school 3:15-4:15 in a lab. See me (or send an email) for an appointment. Make sure your Prezis have all the requirements. A few reminders: 1. Works Cited slide - should include all Works Cited entries for all team members. 2. Parenthetical citations for all answers. 3. Images and/or video. Please do not include video that is over 3-4 minutes long. |
Research Day 3 and Prezi
Friday, 2/6 Today, you should finish your research notes and share them with me at agarrison@skiatookschools.org. Then, you will begin your Prezi. The team should agree on the template, then one member creates a Prezi. After the Prezi is created, you can share with the other team members, so you call can work on it together. To share a Prezi: 1. Click the Share button 2. Enter your team member's gmail address under Add People 3. Make sure they are set up as an Editor, and click Add. 4. Your team member may now log in to Prezi and edit the team Prezi. Review your rubric for Prezi requirements. Your Prezi should include photos and/or video. On your research question slides, please also include the question. Your answers should include parenthetical citations that match up with your Works Cited slide. Combine all your Works Cited entries together into one Works Cited slide. Put all your team's Works Cited entries together alphabetical order, using hanging indentation. We will have computer lab time Monday and Tuesday. Prezis are due Wednesday, February 11. We will not have lab time that day. If you need extra lab time, see me. I have lab time available Monday - Thursday, 3:15-4:15. |
Research Day 2 and Sources Link
Today, you should continue the research you started yesterday. To stay on schedule, you should find the answers to most of your questions today. When you finish answering your questions, be sure to have proper parenthetical citations and a Works Cited entry for each. Then, share you document with me at agarrison@skiatookschools.org. If you don't finish your research today, you may have part of the hour tomorrow. At least halfway through the hour tomorrow, I expect your group to begin to work on the Prezi. If you're having trouble finding sources, try this link. It includes several of the topics we are covering. Thanks to David for sharing it. |
Pre-AP English II - Genocide Research Project
Pre-AP English II will be meeting in the computer lab for the rest of this week. For this project, you will be working in groups. Step 1 - Review techniques of evaluating online sources: http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/Evaluate.html Step 2 - topic assignment Step 3 - divide research questions Step 3 - create Google document titled Research Notes Step 4 - type research question into your document, and begin research Step 5 - once you find a reliable source, type the answer into your document Step 6 - in another tab, open www.easybib.com and create a citation Step 7 - copy the citation into your document, and add parenthetical citation to your answer See attachments below. The powerpoint file has the list of possible research topics. The word document is the rubric provided in class. |
